About the role

We invite applications for a three-year postdoctoral research position in applied mathematics, working with Professor Tim Rogers in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath.

The position has been created to strengthen the Networks and Collective Behaviour research group led by Professor Tim Rogers, the incoming Head of Department. About the Networks and Collective Behaviour research group

The successful candidate will join an active research group focused on the development and application of mathematical methods to complex systems, with a particular emphasis on networks, stochastic processes and mathematical biology. Group members work on a variety of topics from ecology, evolution and epidemiology, through to animal and human behavioural dynamics. We develop and analyse mathematical models (both simulation and theoretical studies) and often work collaboration with experimental scientists. Mathematical techniques deployed include network theory, dynamical systems, stochastic processes and random matrix theory.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious researcher who would value the opportunity to begin new collaborations and begin to develop leadership of their own research programme. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • A PhD in mathematics, theoretical physics, or a closely related discipline (or expected to be awarded shortly).
  • Strong background in applied mathematics and analytical techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
