What Will You Be Doing as a Leakage Programme Manager?

As the Leakage Programme Manager, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and delivering our leakage reduction strategies across multiple workstreams. You’ll manage and optimise a £7.4 million CAPEX programme, leading the delivery of capital projects , especially our Fixed Network Leakage Sensor and Intensive Investigation portfolios.

You’ll lead a small team of engineers to improve sensor network performance, explore frontier technologies, manage budgets, and deliver innovative solutions to reduce leakage. This is a key leadership role where you’ll collaborate across multiple teams and partners to ensure alignment between tactical field operations and long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the leakage capital investment portfolio, ensuring delivery to budget and timescales.
  • Lead the deployment and optimisation of Fixed Network Leakage Sensors, supporting installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Drive delivery of the Leakage Capital programmes including leakage targeted mains replacement, flexible metering assets, and District Metered Area tactical and strategic splits.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with stakeholders across Capital Delivery, Networks, Smart Water Systems, and Asset Management.
  • Produce financial reports, forecasts, and value-to-investment assessments.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead a team of engineers and field professionals to deliver excellence.
  • Champion continuous improvement, digital innovation, and process enhancement across the leakage space.
  • Contribute to a safe, empowered, and inclusive team culture with a strong focus on performance and wellbeing.

What Attributes Are Required?

  • Proven leadership experience managing high-performing teams in technical delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of water networks, leakage reduction technologies, and capital project management
  • Excellent stakeholder management, financial forecasting, and risk mitigation skills.
  • Skilled in agile working practices and digital solution delivery (hardware/software).
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-stakes settings and drive continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working across strategic planning and tactical delivery with a hands-on mindset.

A Little Bit About Your Skills, Experience, and Behaviours…

  • Experience in leakage reduction programmes, preferably in water utilities or infrastructure delivery.
  • Strong data analysis and visualisation capabilities to inform investment decisions.
  • Confident managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets, and reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • A collaborative and empowering leadership style, with a passion for innovation and growth.
  • Familiarity with sensor networks, leakage detection technologies, and asset construction methods.
