Internal Applicants Only – Research Associate in Water Quality and Environmental Data Science

School of Biosciences and School of Earth & Environmental Sciences

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to lead research on taste and odour risks in drinking water reservoirs, working in partnership with major UK water companies. The role involves applying environmental data science, modelling, and network analysis to advance understanding of water quality and algal dynamics. You will develop research proposals, publish high-quality outputs, and collaborate with academic and industry partners. The postholder will contribute to project management, student supervision, and stakeholder engagement, while helping to build impactful research networks. The position is currently a full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed-term, available from 1st August 2026 until 31st July 2027.

Salary: £41,064 – £46,049 per annum (Grade 6). Please be aware that appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
