Overview
How you’ll make a difference
The HR Casework and Change team enables the council to deliver effective people management by providing consistent, practical and solutions-focused HR advice and support.
As an HR Advisor, you will use your knowledge and expertise to provide high-quality generalist HR guidance across a range of employee relations matters. Your support will focus primarily on sickness absence, probation and performance management, as well as advising on disciplinary and grievance cases.
What you will be doing
- Working collaboratively with Senior HR Advisors and managers across the HR service, you will provide timely, practical advice and support to employees and managers at all levels, helping to achieve effective case resolution while minimising risk to the organisation.
- You will support the delivery of workforce change projects, including facilitating appropriate consultation processes with employees, trade unions and other key stakeholders.
- It will be key for you to monitor the teams inbox, responding to enquiries promptly and initiating casework where required.
- Using your research and analytical skills, you will gather, interpret and present information clearly and accurately to support decision-making within your service area.
- It will be your responsibility to effectively administer and maintain casework documentation, ensuring records are accurate, up-to-date and managed in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
What we need from you
- It is essential that you have generalist HR experience, including employee relations casework and supporting workforce change activities.
- You will have a sound working knowledge of HR policies and procedures, together with an understanding of employment legislation and its practical application in the workplace.
- Ideally, you will hold, or be working towards, a recognised HR qualification such as the CIPD Certificate in People Practice alongside a willingness to develop your knowledge and experience.
What you need to know
- All applications will be initially reviewed and if you are shortlisted, you will be invited to complete a short psychometric assessment. If you are successful through this stage, you will be invited to an in person interview.
- This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work from home for the majority of the week. You will be required to attend our Badminton Road Office one day per week, with additional office attendance as needed for meetings.
Interviews due to take place on 27th August 2026.
