About the role
The Faculty of Engineering and Design is looking for a Trainee Electronics Teaching Support Technician to provide support in our electrical and electronics laboratories and workshop as part of a team, covering both teaching and research activities across the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering.Â
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing teaching support to staff and students as required for various research and project activities under the direct supervision of the technical supervisor and her team. A broad general knowledge of electronics applications is desirable, although training will be provided where necessary.
The role holder will
- Prepare and set-up basic equipment and instrumentation and assist in the application and operation where necessary.Â
- Prepare basic materials/equipment for teaching and research activitiesÂ
- Provide basic technical support to undergraduate students within their area of work, responding to basic queries as necessary about use of equipment or relevant H&S procedures.
- Provide support to senior technical team members
The role will also include some shadowing and deputising for Technicians as required, carrying out of critical tasks to support research and/or teaching activity to ensure that effective technical support is provided at all times.
Further Information
This position is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) basis at a commencing salary of £24,685 per annum.
