How you’ll make a difference

As a Community Meals Driver, you will make a difference to members of the community by delivering nutritious meals for those who may not be able to cook for themselves. 

What you will be doing

  • You will be part of a dedicated team providing a vital service to a customers throughout South Gloucestershire.
  • Working independently, you will have a regular round providing the opportunity to get to know your customers and build relationships.
  • As a driver, you will be able to navigate your way around the South Gloucestershire area confidently to deliver community meals in a timely manner.

What we need from you

  • It is essential that you have a full valid driving licence for this post. Ideally, you will have knowledge of the South Gloucestershire area.
  • You must be comfortable working independently, with strong interpersonal skills and be confident in interacting with people.
  • We require you to be confident in making decisions and knowing when to escalate any concerns.
  • You will enjoy working at pace and have the ability to balance your schedule with the needs of your customer.

What you need to know

  • Community meals is a year-round service, including Christmas and Bank holidays.
  • You will be based out of the council offices at Badminton Road, Yate, BS37 5AF.
  • Weekend work (one weekend in four) shifts are: 10:45am – 14:15pm.
  • Allowance: Sunday enhancement (time & half)
  • Salary is pro-rated to hours worked.
  • Your uniform will be provided.
  • We will offer food hygiene and allergen training if required.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.

 

Interviews anticipated week commencing 8th September 2025.
