Overview

The Commercial Analyst is a role in the Booker Finance team that is responsible for supporting the business across a wide range of goods and services not for resale (GSNFR) areas. Based in our Eccles site, this includes maintaining external relationships with suppliers of fuel, utilities and car fleet as well as Tesco Group Treasury, Insurance and Utility departments.

Internally, the role holder supports senior management in minimising risk and mitigating costs thereby improving cash profit.  The role is accountable for the production of all central cost budgets and forecasts as well as supporting and partnering with the senior team in the preparation and understanding of the periodic accounts.

Ensure accurate reporting of costs in accordance with accounting standards each period.

Work with the procurement teams to obtain optimum value from the purchasing of other goods and services not for resale.

Track performance of save to invest initiatives to auditable standards.

Work to identify issues that will or are impacting utility consumption and work promptly, jointly & proactively to mitigate and resolve such issues.

Work with stakeholders to manage understanding of the cost base and cost reporting.

Work proactively with stakeholders to improve processes and maximise asset utilization.

Remain knowledgeable about technology, market trends and innovations.

Work promptly, jointly & proactively on capital projects to improve cash profit & customer satisfaction.

Manage suppliers to maximise value for money on products and services.

Find ways to achieve or beat budgeted costs and try to improve costs year-on-year.

Deliver new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency.

Deliver innovation through transformation and continual service improvement.

+3 years’ experience of working in a part of full qualified Finance role or similar

Proven track record of building strong working relationships with external suppliers

Proven ‘hands on’ track record of delivering solutions within a pressurised environment

Proven analytical skills

Forecasting and budgeting experience

Consistent delivery of results.

Shift Hours: 38 hrs per week (Monday – Friday)
