An exciting opportunity for a Business MI Developer has become available within Saga’s finance department. Supporting both the Finance team and the wider Insurance business, this role sits within a team of 4 Data and Analytics professionals and provides the opportunity to work across multiple data sources, platforms and analytics tools. The role is all about providing technical data and business reporting solutions that support informed day to day decision making and performance management and enable colleagues to self-serve the information they need, when they need it. Being a small, but perfectly formed, team we thrive on collaboration, learning new skills and continuous improvement of our ways of working.
We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. In this team we work mainly from Folkestone and tend to have a pattern of a couple of times per month. When we do come together as a team, it allows us to grow and learn plus it is a great opportunity to socialise and celebrate too! We also travel to our London office too.
We are looking for an immediate start for this FTC role.
Role Responsibility
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
- Supporting our Ops MI team with their data pipelines, troubleshooting issues as they occur and amending processes as business requirements develop
- Specifying, designing and automating of business processes using BI tools
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and best practices for all aspect of data extraction and transformation
- Assisting the team with identifying gaps in data sets and ensuring we have optimal data quality for accurate and timely reporting and MI
- Working with the business and technical stakeholders, identify and develop data sets to assist in efficient reporting and MI production
- Working alongside the data testing function as a key stakeholder and technical lead on detailed and accurate testing plans
- Reviewing and making recommendations on infrastructure and technologies used, always striving for continuous improvement and sustainability
- Championing data quality and integrity, providing support and feedback in order to improve data quality
- Providing support to the Head of Finance on all other matters as required
The Ideal Candidate
- Experienced developer background
- SQL capability essential, preferably MS SQL, and ideally within an insurance organisation
- Proficiency in SSIS
- Experience in data analytics, reporting and data change implementation / testing practices
- Experience working with Business Intelligence tools
- Proven experience in creating and enforcing technical best practices
- Knowledgeable on the principles behind effective database design and data management
- Knowledgeable with GDPR and effectively managing the principles in a data driven team
