Job description
You will be responsible for:
– Supporting the Assurance Lead in ensuring high quality second line assurance activities across HMRC are being delivered against the standards, and supporting improvements where appropriate.
– Analysing department wide assurance information to provide insight reports to ExCom and governance groups, and adding value by helping to inform senior decision making and strengthen the enterprise Risk and Control Framework, which underpins HMRC’s operations and supports the achievement of its strategic objectives.
– Helping to strengthen second line assurance capabilities and products, and its integration with other third line assurance providers.
– Leading and influencing stakeholder engagement across HMRC, including developing and providing insight, giving advice and guidance, sharing best practice, driving improvements and leading items at governance groups.
– Supporting and deputising for the G7 Assurance Lead, as necessary.
– Actively supporting the team in building its capability and enabling continuous improvement.
Person specification
Applying your assurance skills and experience, building impactful relationships and developing an understanding of how risk management and assurance can enable effective delivery of HMRC’s core services is key to being successful in this role.
Essential Criteria:
– Significant experience of delivering a professional assurance service, effectively driving business performance and improvements, and meeting customers’ needs.
– Demonstrable sound knowledge in assurance methodology, techniques, and reporting.
– Excellent communication and influencing skills with experience of effectively engaging with senior stakeholders and securing successful outcomes.
– Solid analysis and reporting experience, including making linkages and presenting insight to inform decision makers .
– A relevant qualification from: ERM Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management, Qualified accountant, Qualified Internal Auditor (CIA), Or able to demonstrate relevant assurance experience combined with intention to study for the above.
Additional Security Information
Please note that if you are appointed to 100 Parliament Street, as a condition of working in this location you will be required to obtain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level clearance.
To obtain this level of clearance, you will normally need to meet the minimum UK residency period, which for CTC is 3 years UK residency prior to your vetting application.
