Job Title: Project Director

Shape the future of major water infrastructure for the East of England

At Anglian Water, we’re embarking on one of the most significant investment programmes in our history – delivering major infrastructure that will secure resilient water and wastewater services for generations to come.

We’re now seeking an exceptional Project Director to lead the development, planning, procurement and delivery portfolio of major projects, each valued between £100m and £400m as part of the AMP8 and AMP9 investment periods.

This is a pivotal leadership role for a proven Project Director who thrives in complexity, excels in collaboration, and is motivated by purpose.

About the role

As Project Director, you’ll:

  • Lead a dedicated team to deliver multi-disciplinary major projects on behalf of Anglian Water.

  • Shape the delivery strategy, from feasibility through design, procurement, and construction.

  • Build and empower a high-performing client and supply chain team, ensuring alignment to Anglian Water’s values and performance expectations.

  • Drive safe, sustainable, and innovative delivery – balancing schedule, cost, quality and environmental performance.

  • Work closely with senior leaders across Anglian Water, our Alliances and the supply chain to ensure effective governance, assurance and handover into operations

These projects will include major wastewater treatment and supply enhancements, and network strengthening schemes that are critical to regional resilience.

About you

We’re looking for an inspiring and collaborative leader who can bring clarity and purpose to complex programmes. You’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience directing large-scale infrastructure or capital delivery programmes (typically £100m+)

  • A track record in strategic planning, procurement, and stakeholder management across multi-partner environments.

  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of NEC contract delivery models.

  • Proven ability to build and lead integrated teams – aligning technical excellence, innovation, and shared accountability.

  • A passion for safety, sustainability, and building trust through transparent leadership.

Experience within the regulated water, utilities, or major infrastructure sectors is highly desirable, but we welcome applications from candidates with transferable expertise in complex project environments.
