We have an excellent opportunity for an HR Policy Advisor to join us on a 12-month fixed-term basis. For internal candidates this could be a fixed-term contract or secondment opportunity.Ā

Working in collaboration with colleagues, and in consultation with our recognised Trade Unions, youĀ will have opportunity to shape and innovate our employment approach.Ā

Whether you’re an experienced Human Resources professional, or have a keen interest in employee relations and policy development and are looking to broaden your experience in the HR field, this role is a great opportunity to support a wide range of employment initiatives, enabling us to be the best, and fairest, employer we can be. Ā

The role is hybrid in nature, with an expected mix of weekly office attendance and remote working. The role is full-time, however we support flexible working requests from day one, so we’re happy to discuss how different working patterns could be supported.Ā Ā

For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Maxine Harriman, Workforce Policy and Reward Manager, on 01480 372410 or alternatively at maxine.harriman@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.Ā Ā

Interviews will take place on Monday, 6th OctoberĀ 2025 at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald, near Huntingdon.Ā

About you

You’ll have previous HR experience, with a broad understanding of employment policies and processes, together with sound knowledge of employment legislation, and the ability to understand and interpret its implications for us, as a large employer. Ā

Previous experience of developing employment policy is not essential, but you must have good analytical skills to be able to research and analyse information from a range of sources, and to present conclusions and recommendations. Ā

Good communication skills are essential, and you’ll have the ability to convey information to a variety of audiences, in the most appropriate format, with strong attention to detail. Ā

You’ll be comfortable working independently, contributing to a range of short and long-term priorities, as well as working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to deliver required outcomes. Ā

Our values are Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful and focussed on Excellence, and we expect you to be able to demonstrate these values in everything you do. Ā

In return, you will be offered a supportive and flexible work environment, where you can develop and be your best at work.   Ā

We have set out in the attached job description and person specification what we are ideally looking for in a candidate; our priority is in finding the right person with a mix of skills and experience that adds value to our employment offer.

In line with our Pay Policy, our standard practice is for appointments to be made at the lower end of the salary range.Ā
