About the role
The Economy and Climate Change team oversees the Climate Change and Environment programme, which aims to reduce our carbon emissions and protect the environment and support Cambridgeshire County Councilās mission to become a net zero organisation by 2030. Weāre therefore looking for a passionate and technically skilled Climate Consents Officer to help us get there.
In this pivotal role, youāll provide expert advice on carbon emissions and climate risk across major planning applications and infrastructure projects. Youāll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure climate considerations are embedded in everything we do from policy development to project delivery.

Our office base is Sackville House, Cambourne, with flexibility to work in alternative Council office locations, as well as homeworking.āÆĀ
The post is fixed term for 2 years with the possibility of being extended / made permanent.

About you
To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with the following skills and abilities- Ā
- A degree level qualification in a subject relating to Environment, Sustainable Development, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
- Strong knowledge of carbon accounting, climate legislation, and environmental impact assessments.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
