Enabling Coordinator – Peterborough
Job Description

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.

This role is flexible / remote work. Attendance required at Peterborough office for team meetings, etc.

The Enabling (EIA) Coordinator is responsible for the assessment of environmental constraints and associated risks on the interconnector projects. Reporting to the Lead Enabling Coordinator, the Coordinator will be responsible for communicating environmental findings to the design, engineering and construction teams. Working with the Lead Enabling Coordinator, the Coordinator will regularly review the level of risk to project delivery and environment, working collaboratively with the design, engineering and construction teams to reduce consenting and environmental risk on projects to an acceptable level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance on environmental aspects of projects and related activities in support of engineering and construction teams.
  • Support the Area T&C Planners by conducting tasks related to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) screening and/or scoping opinions and planning applications.
  • Understand and manage risks to the environment and project delivery.
  • Perform project delivery activities such as completing risk assessments, advising on survey requirements, reviewing and communicating survey results.
  • Work in a collaborative way with engineers, construction teams and external stakeholders to deliver schemes on time, on budget and with minimal environmental impact.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) packages (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo) for geoprocessing and visualisation of data
  • Experience in managing the environmental assessment of large works programmes

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level with a BSc or MSc in Geography, Environmental Science or Earth Science (minimum 2:1 at degree level)
  • Demonstrable interest in business consulting and environmental issues (either through related coursework, previous employment, or personal endeavours
