Join us as a Youth Justice Engagement Support Apprentice within the Service.

As a new role within the Service, you will support the delivery of an effective and creative service for children, young people, their families, and victims of crime. To do this, you will:

  • Contribute to developing approaches to ensure children are at the centre of our decision making through direct consultative and engagement activities with children and families
  • Support and coordinate quality assurance activity across the Service
  • Follow examples of national/international best practice, Youth Justice Board’s national standards and findings from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation

This apprenticeship role is a fixed term contract for 25 Months in line with the length of the apprenticeship training.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The pre-interview is a short session to give the candidates further details of the apprenticeship role and to help them understand what to expect from and how to prepare for the final interview. You will also complete a short diagnostic assessment to check the level of Maths and English that they are currently working at and identify any support they may require.

We are looking for an individual who wants to make a positive difference and who has experience and skills/abilities that include:

  • Creating & delivering interventions to children/young people, their families, parents/carers and/or victims of crime.
  • Using technology and systems to analyse and produce high quality reports.
  • Time management skills, and the ability to prioritise your workload whilst dealing with a range of conflicting demands.
  • Effective communication skills; verbal, non-verbal and written.
  • Confident and able to interact in a wide range of professional settings and with service users and their families/carers.
  • Ability to use professional interaction skills in a wide range of settings.
  • Ability to effectively interact with children and their families/carers.

You will be required to:

  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of children/young people, families & victims this will mean some evening working.
  • To be involved in the effective delivery of the service, during and outside of office hours, including occasional Bank Holidays and weekends as required.
  • Complete the Level 5 Youth Justice Practitioner Apprenticeship
