Trade Waste Driver – Nottingham

Enva is a leading provider of recycling and resource recovery solutions, helping businesses and communities across the UK manage their waste responsibly.

We’re looking for an LGV Driver to join our Transport team based at our Nottingham site.
In this role, you’ll operate a variety of LGV vehicles – including both rear and front loaders – to carry out the collection and emptying of bins for our trade waste clients. You’ll work independently as a single-person crew, ensuring collections are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This is a physically demanding position that requires early morning starts and working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions. Shifts typically start between 04:00 and 06:00, with a total shift length of 9.75 hours. The role offers independence, responsibility, and the chance to make a direct impact on the cleanliness and sustainability of local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate LGV vehicles safely and efficiently to complete trade waste collections.
  • Conduct daily pre-start vehicle inspections and report any defects, breakdowns, or incidents promptly.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety obligations are met and company policies are followed.
  • Report safety concerns, hazards, or incidents in a timely manner to allow investigation and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain compliance with Duty of Care regulations by inspecting waste and completing waste transfer documentation.
  • Use handheld devices or tickets to record collection details and obtain customer signatures.
  • Ensure skips placed on public roads have correct permits, lights, and cones as per company procedures.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and promote a positive company image at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent Enva professionally on every route.
  • Actively participate in driver debriefs, highlighting any safety issues, vehicle defects, or route improvements.
  • Support operational efficiency and continuous improvement across the Transport department.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

We’re looking for a professional, safety-conscious driver who takes pride in their work and provides great customer service. You’ll be proactive, adaptable, and ready to take ownership of your route and vehicle. 

Essential:
  • Full HGV (LGV) licence.
  • Valid CPC qualification.
  • Good understanding of vehicle safety,  checks, and compliance. 
  • Health and Safety awareness.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently. 
Desirable:
  • Experience operating waste collection or similar commercial vehicles.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance experience. 
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced or customer-facing environment.
