Supply Chain Manager – Southampton
Job Description

CMDP, a Joint Venture between Costain and MWHT, have been selected by Southern Water to deliver essential infrastructure solutions for its next AMP8 investment programme. The award is for an initial seven-year term worth at least £500m to Costain, with an option to extend by up to five years.

The strategic delivery partner framework will deliver upgrades to water and wastewater assets, including treatment sites, pumping stations and reservoirs, during Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) and beyond.

The role of the Supply Chain Manager (Water) is to contribute to the development and deployment of their sector strategy for Supply Chain Management. Operating within the sector supply chain management team, working closely with the project leads, Sector Head of Supply Chain, Procurement and any other members of the Supply Chain management team, they are responsible for ensuring that their sector Supply Chain strategy is deployed into their sector.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Supply Chain Management across the CMDP JV, providing direction and support in the process
  • Ensure a robust and structured supply chain exists and is correctly deployed in support of both winning and successfully delivering projects / frameworks
  • Support the drive towards ESG, including but not limited to SME development, social value creation, zero carbon solutions, promoting safety
  • Promote collaboration between the business and the supply chain to unlock value through innovation and best practice where appropriate using the principles of ISO44001
  • Ensure strong governance is followed and adhered to, ensuring the business is not exposed to unnecessary risk and that effective performance management of the supply chain is undertaken
  • Work closely with the Procurement function to ensure compatibility between activities of respective functions
  • Develop relationships with client’s Supply Chain and Procurement teams, participating in their initiatives to assist them in achieving their goals
  • Seek out and bring to the JV (and where appropriate the wider business) innovative solutions /best practice
  • Ensure data is produced and used to allow effective decision making

Qualifications

  • Significant experience working in a similar level role
  • A clear leader with excellent communication skills able to interact at all levels
  • A clear and visible enthusiasm for driving improvement in best practice
  • Ability to demonstrate a level of emotional intelligence, capable of engaging with a wide-ranging stakeholder group
  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain management and procurement
  • Experience of collaborative working and implementing innovation
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply qualified (min level 5)
