About the role

As a Senior Project Engineer specializing in warehouse and AGV systems, you will play a pivotal role in leading capital investment initiatives and master plan projects across factory logistics and material handling operations. You’ll provide technical direction and subject matter expertise in automated warehouse infrastructure, AGV deployment, and intralogistics optimization. Your leadership will drive improvements in throughput, operational efficiency, and asset reliability while aligning with overall plant performance goals.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse and AGV scope execution across the project lifecycle, coordinating with cross-functional teams, consultants, and suppliers to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets are met.
  • Manage warehouse and AGV system design phases (concept, basic, detailed) with design consultants and vendors; participate in design reviews and workshops to ensure high-quality engineering deliverables.
  • Oversee AGV and warehouse automation packages including racking systems, conveyors, WMS integration, charging stations, and navigation infrastructure from vendor selection through FAT, installation, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (production, maintenance, quality, R&D) for seamless handover of warehouse systems and documentation.
  • Support startup activities including commissioning of AGV fleets and warehouse systems, validation protocols, and integration into SOP, PM, and QMS frameworks.
  • Ensure warehouse and AGV documentation adheres to GDP standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, OSHA, ISO).
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and detailed implementation schedules for warehouse and AGV scope.
  • Lead or mentor junior engineers and technicians in warehouse automation and AGV deployment.
  • Generate and manage engineering documentation including layout drawings, URS, traffic flow maps, and validation protocols.
  • Conduct regular project meetings to communicate warehouse and AGV scope progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Supervise contractors and field installation teams to ensure workmanship meets corporate standards and supports operational integrity through startup and commissioning.

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience including 3+ years in capital project management.
  • Deep understanding of warehouse automation, AGV technologies, and material handling systems.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Proven experience in warehouse systems, AGV deployment, or intralogistics within factory operations or capital projects.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to lead cross-functional coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, warehouse layout planning, and AGV fleet management software.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or healthcare manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of hygiene design, GMP logistics, and validation practices.
  • Understanding of project execution lifecycle and ability to drive results across diverse teams.

Salary Range

USD $115,000.00 –  $173,000.00

Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law.
