Contract Director – Soft Facilities Management

Medirest | NHS | Central London | Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits

At Medirest, we don’t just manage services – we create environments where patients feel cared for, staff feel supported, and hospitals can thrive. We are now looking for an experienced, commercially astute Contract Director to lead and inspire our NHS partnerships across Central London.

This is a high-impact, senior leadership role where commercial excellence meets genuine purpose. You’ll work hand-in-hand with NHS stakeholders to deliver outstanding Soft Facilities Management services – from cleaning and catering to portering and retail – all while championing quality, compassion and patient experience.

If you’re passionate about people, driven by performance, and motivated by making a real difference in healthcare, this is a role where your leadership truly matters.

The Role

As Contract Director, you will take full ownership of large, complex NHS contracts, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and with heart. You’ll balance commercial performance with exceptional service delivery, building high-performing teams and strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

Commercial Leadership

  • Drive strong financial performance across soft FM and retail operations, with full accountability for budgets, forecasts and cost control

  • Identify and maximise revenue opportunities while delivering value for money

Contract & Performance Management

  • Lead the management of all soft FM and retail contracts, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are consistently achieved

  • Ensure full compliance with governance, quality and regulatory standards

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day-to-day service delivery, setting high standards for safety, quality and customer experience

  • Continuously improve services with a focus on patient care and staff wellbeing

Stakeholder & Client Partnership

  • Build trusted, collaborative relationships with NHS leaders, suppliers and internal teams

  • Act as a strategic partner, aligned to client priorities and patient outcomes

People & Culture

  • Lead, inspire and develop senior management teams

  • Create a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement

Risk & Compliance

  • Proactively identify and manage risks across service delivery, compliance and finance

  • Ensure safe, secure and welcoming environments for patients, staff and visitors

About You

You’re a confident, values-led leader with a strong commercial mindset and a passion for healthcare.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven senior leadership experience in Soft FM contract management, ideally within healthcare

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with a track record of driving performance

  • Experience managing large-scale, complex contracts and multi-disciplinary teams

  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills

  • A customer-first mindset, with a genuine commitment to patient experience

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to solve complex operational challenges

What We Offer

We believe great leadership deserves great rewards. Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll receive a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Contributory pension scheme

  • Career Pathways and MyLearning programmes to support your development

  • Digital GP access for you and your immediate family, plus wider healthcare benefits

  • Exclusive travel discounts with TUI, Expedia, Booking.com and more
