Skip Delivery Driver – Nottingham

To deliver, pick up and exchange skip/rollonoffs and/or trade/FEL bins within different environments ensuring excellent customer service, a high level of perception ensuring yours and others Health & safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace 
  • Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered 
  • Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents in a timely manner to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence 
  • Complete daily pre-start vehicle inspections and submit to Transport dept 
  • Report all accidents, vehicle defects, breakdowns 
  • Ensuring compliance with Duty of Care regulations by inspecting waste and completing waste transfer notes, sheeting all loads to ensure secure transit of waste on the public highway 
  • The completion of relevant tickets or the use of the handheld device (As appropriate), detailing the necessary information and obtaining a customer signature 
  • Ensuring skips placed on the road have a road permit, and lights and cones are placed around the skip as detailed in Company procedures 
  • Ensure that health, safety and welfare standards are maintained in accordance with the Company’s safety policy, Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures and Instructions 
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab 
  • Advise management of any abnormal situation that cannot be dealt 
  • Assist in the control and co-ordination of work to ensure efficiency and productivity Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service Identify and communicate any areas for improvement 
  • Actively take part in the driver debrief at the end of each shift highlighting any safety issues, vehicle defects and recommending route and customer improvements. 
This is not an exhaustive list.  You may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by the business that you are qualified/trained in that meet the scope, spirit and purpose of this role.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • HGV License
  • CPC 
  • Previous experience of waste collection vehicles  
  • Mechanical experience with LGV/HGV’s
