Description: Stroud District Council is looking for an enthusiastic person with a commitment to helping the publicto join ourHousing Advice Team. This is a key post supervising a busy team delivering the Council’s housing advice and homelessness functions. The Housing Advice Team provides a compassionate and client-focussed service, and we are looking for candidates to help build on our success.

The purpose of this role is principally focused on the homelessness prevention side of our work, assisting the Housing Advice Manager in all aspects of prevention work, and helping to develop and deliver the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping strategies. In addition, you’ll be expected to assist in monitoring and reporting data and performance indicators for the team, and making sure that corporate financial processes are followed.

About you
You’ll have experience of working in a similar role and will be passionate and enthusiastic about helping people in housing need. You will have worked in a supervisory role within a front-line service previously and be able to deliver exceptional customer service whilst working under pressure. Knowledge of the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act is essential for this role.

The successful candidatewillbe part ofabusyteam dealing with all aspects of homelessness, housing advice and managing thehousing register (HomeseekerPlus).The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

Supervisory experience within the housing profession,
experience of dealing with people in difficult situations,
aknowledge of theHousing Act 1996 as amended Part VI allocations and Part VII homelessness,
good organisational and time management skills,
high standards of written and verbal communication skills.
