Are you an excellent problem solver with an interest in the energy markets? If so, come and join EDF as a Senior Market Analyst!
The Opportunity
As a Senior Analyst in the Market Analysis team here at EDF, you will play a crucial role in informing trading strategies, producing forecasts and insight, and driving performance.
The Market Analysis team sits at the heart of the EDF Wholesale Market Services business. We are responsible for optimising EDF’s portfolio of battery assets, we create forecasts to support the short and long-term trading functions, and we produce daily forward curves for the retail businesses.
This is a hybrid role, with the flexibility to work from home and attend our Gloucester or London office once or twice a week.
Who you are
Joining as a Senior Analyst, you will have broad knowledge of the GB energy markets and, ideally, an understanding of the flexible-asset markets. Knowledge of how the day-ahead and within-day markets operate will be an advantage, as will experience of building and running market models.
With an analytical background, you will have experience with Microsoft Excel and programming languages such as VBA and Python. Ideally, you will understand how to manage, query and use large datasets to produce value-add analysis. You will be skilled at communicating findings effectively.Â
We’re looking for somebody with excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and technical skills and a keen interest in the rapidly developing GB energy markets. Â
If this sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you!Â
What you’ll be doing
On joining, your primary role will be to create the daily trading strategies for our portfolio of batteries, working alongside the trading and commercial teams to review performance and drive improvements. You will attend regular calls with the asset owners to explain and discuss strategies.Â
Later, you will support our other operational activities: providing supply margin and price forecasts to support prompt trading; modelling curve power and margins and communicating market risks and opportunities to the curve trading team; and creating the daily forward curves for the wider business.Â
You will also have opportunities to propose and deliver change, to further enhance the service we provide whether that’s through the development of our price models and optimisation tools, or by improving how we measure and report performance.
As a Senior Analyst, you will become involved in or lead n projects that will require collaboration with other Wholesale Market Service teams, Sales & Marketing and Generation.
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a salary ranging from £56,000 – £70,000pa (depending on experience), potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.
