The  Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the  Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.

About the role

This is an opportunity for a Research Associate to join an innovative mixed-methods project funded by The Burdett Trust for Nursing, which is led by a Senior Midwifery Lecturer/Researcher in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care.
 
The successful candidate will support our work to evaluate the implementation of a co-produced e-resource on trauma-informed maternity care for those who have experienced child sexual abuse, in pre-registration midwifery programmes across England.
 
Care of women who have experienced abuse (recent and non-recent) was included in the Nursing and Midwifery Council Proficiencies for Midwives for the first time when they were updated in 2019, but resources to support teaching and learning are lacking. We will be working with four universities to test the implementation of our co-produced e-resource in their midwifery programmes.
 
The study will assess knowledge, skills and attitudes of students related to trauma-informed care for survivors of child sexual abuse pre and post resource use, evaluate content of and engagement with the e-resource, identify facilitators and barriers to resource use. The post is designed to support the successful set-up and running of the study and requires qualitative research skills. The postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of tasks related to organising interviews and focus groups, qualitative and data analysis, quantitative data analysis.
 
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have attention to detail and be proactive. They will have an interest in using research to help improve care. They will be very organised with excellent communication and engagement skills. They will be able to work well both with others and independently, show initiative when faced with challenges, and have good problem-solving skills.
 
The postholder will work under the supervision of Principal Investigator Dr Elsa Montgomery. They will be required to travel to team meetings (Waterloo, London). The post holder also will have the opportunity to work as part of King’s hybrid working model, where you can work between your home and the office throughout the week.
 
This is a part time post (14 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31/05/2026.
