We’re looking for a dedicated Quality Assurance Officer to join the team at our Distribution Centre in Kettering. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure the highest standards of food safety, legality, and product quality across our logistics operation. You’ll be the go-to expert for BRCGS audits, Food safety management, and quality systems across the KDC campus.

About the role

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manchester QA Manager, you will act as the primary technical contact at site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and maintain food safety and quality systems across the logistics operation.
  • Act as site lead for BRCGS Storage and Distribution audits and EHO inspections.
  • Maintain and chair HACCP and food safety meetings.
  • Carry out validation work and trend analysis to support the sites HACCP plan.
  • Ensure allergen management and traceability compliance.
  • Assist with the introduction and implementation of food safety procedures for day-to-day operations.
  • Manage microbiological, chemical, and raw material testing.
  • Evaluate raw materials ensuring adherence to product specification.
  • Conduct customer experience and product quality assessments.
  • Produce monthly reports on supplier performance and communicate to Gregg’s supplier technologists.
  • Manage and conduct internal audits (GMP, hygiene, traceability, etc.).
  • Support the site with the management of non-conforming products and complaint investigations.
  • Monitor hygiene, pest control, and equipment calibration.
  • Support product withdrawals and recalls.
  • Provide technical support to operational teams.
  • Collaborate with wider technical teams and communicate key food safety and quality metrics.
  • Assist with continuous improvement and food safety culture initiatives.

About you

We are looking for individuals who are driven, and can demonstrate:

  • Food safety / food science related HNC/HND (or equivalent)
  • HACCP Level 3, Food Safety Level 4 and Internal Audit Qualification 
  • Min 2 years food handling experience 
  • A results focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Proven experience of leadership, decision making and report writing
  • Practical knowledge of BRCGS Storage and Distribution Standard and QMS Systems, and experience leading third party audits. 
  • Proven experience in investigations and internal audits with strong attention to detail 
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset 
  • High level of numerical, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases) 
  • Have experience of, and the ability to multi-task and work with multiple priorities calmly and at pace.
