Post-Doctoral Medicinal Chemistry Fellow (KTP Associate) (Leicester, GB, LE1 9BH)

Main duties and responsibilities

This project is funded via the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme which enables the business to bring in new skills and the latest academic thinking to deliver a specific, strategic innovation project. The KTP associate leads the strategic business project with support from the university and business teams. Applying academic knowledge to a real-world challenge, a KTP is a chance to deliver impact and shape your career. There is also a training and development budget which allows you to further enhance your personal and professional development. We are looking for an innovative and highly motivated individual with a passion for advancing cancer therapeutics.

 

Ideal candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Post-Doctoral Medicinal Chemistry Fellow to join an innovative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) in the development of green-chemistry methods for the synthesis of anti-cancer agents.  The role will be based at the Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University, Leicester, in collaboration with Fluid Science Limited, Liverpool. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of sustainable research and development of cancer compounds.  The main aim of this three-year project will be the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel green chemistry methods for the large-scale preparation of novel cancer therapeutics.  The ideal candidate should have a substantial experience of practical synthetic organic chemistry, including multi-step synthesis, and advanced analytical methods.  The candidate should have lab management skills and be familiar with chemistry-related software.

The Fellow will join the DMU medicinal chemistry group and actively participate in scholarly activities, including organising workshops with external stakeholders and presenting their work at national and international conferences.
