Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) provides a fundraising and alumni engagement function in support of King’s College London. We are proud to work with colleagues across the university and its health partners to help them serve society through world-leading education, research and healthcare. Our work also includes a partnership with the Maudsley Charity in support of children’s mental health initiatives between the university’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust.

About the role
In Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) our strategies and objectives are reliant on retaining our great people, creating the best culture and environment for them to work in, supporting their development and providing the platform for them to flourish.

The People and Talent Manager will play a key role in fostering and sustaining this environment. Working closely with the Associate Director of Business Operations, who sits on the P&A Leadership Team and has overall responsibility for the people agenda, the role will help to ensure that all elements of an employee’s lifecycle are optimised and that the P&A People Plan is delivered. This will be in support of an overall ambition for P&A to be the destination of choice in the sector and we will always be looking to innovate and demonstrate best practice in support of this objective.

This role will play a key part in communicating policies, opportunities and initiatives from across the university to the wider P&A team. They will also play a key role in gathering information and insights to help inform decisions by Leadership Team (LT), and aide in the development of action plans to improve the experience of working in P&A, to help colleagues thrive and deliver to best effect for our stakeholders. They will help bring new thinking and innovation into our activities to keep us at the leading edge of practice.

Areas of responsibility and activity will include recruitment and selection; onboarding and induction; culture and engagement; training, development and progression; reward and recognition; and managing feedback mechanisms to ensure we continue to reflect, learn and improve. Everything will be underpinned by our Core Values, of Collaboration, Ambition, Respect and Responsibility.

This is a full time maternity cover role (35 hours per week) and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 16 January 2027, or until the substantive post holder returns. P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.
