Grateley House School

Grateley House School is a successful 38-week Residential Special School for young people aged 11-19 with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder; typically, high functioning and/or associated disorders.

We are currently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted within Education and Care.  

The school is currently made up of 35 students and will continue to grow over the next three years. We offer a curriculum to students in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. The school follows the National Curriculum and we support students to gain outcomes equivalent to mainstream.

Job Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated and talented individual to join our team as Pastoral Support Lead.

You will have a flexible, creative and practical in your approach and will work alongside colleagues holistically with the aim of meeting the personal, social, emotional and intellectual needs of every student so that they are encouraged to participate fully and gain maximum benefit from everything the school has to offer

You will provide information, advice and structured intervention to enable students to make positive choices about their engagement in school.

The successful candidate will be a part of a dedicated team who work collaboratively with Education, Care and Therapeutic Services supporting each other's practice to develop specialist services to those with complex needs including: Autism and associated difficulties.

Candidate Profile

An understanding of the Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or experience of working with children/young people with additional needs is an advantage.

You must be able to establish and maintain positive professional working relationships with the students and staff.

You must be a confident and effective communicator

Good organisation skills and the ability to work well under pressure

To be willing to undertake ELSA training

Grateley House School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects the same from its employees. All new staff will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps within employment, two satisfactory references and registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Cambian will also conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
