Nutrition & Health Manager – Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the internal expert on nutrition, providing guidance on nutrition modelling, health claims and policy application across NPD and category teams, supported by our technical teams 
  • Upskill and train NPD and other internal teams to ensure best practice application of nutrition and health guidance in product development 
  • Ensure all health signposting, nutrition claims and specifications are compliant, accurate and legally robust, working closely with Technical, Marketing and Legal teams 
  • Own nutrition data reporting processes, ensuring accurate, verified data is delivered to meet pledge reporting requirements and timelines 
  • Represent Greggs externally in health and nutrition forums, including industry roundtables, government and lobby groups, building strong networks and insight for the business 
  • Collaborate cross functionally to embed the health strategy into category plans, marketing messaging and launch reviews, supporting delivery of our overarching health ambitions 
  • Lead and influence short, medium and long-term health plans across categories, aligned to business objectives and Greggs’ health pledge commitments 
  • Partner with Commercial, Category, Customer Insight and NPD (Food Zone) teams to shape the innovation pipeline, translating health insights into viable commercial opportunities

Ideal Candidate

You will fit right into this role if you: 

  • Hold a degree in Nutrition or Dietetics and are a UK‑registered Nutritionist (RNutr) 
  • Have a strong understanding of nutrition, health legislation and its practical application within the food industry 
  • Bring excellent communication skills, with the confidence to influence and manage stakeholders at all levels 
  • Have at least five years’ experience working in a nutrition focused role within a fast-paced retail, manufacturing or food service environment and are able to juggle multiple projects and priorities at a time 
  • Are experienced in collaborating with cross functional teams, including product development, technical, marketing and category teams 
  • Possess a solid understanding of UK food policy and legislation and how it informs product development and health strategy 
  • Are confident analysing and interpreting data to support decision-making and health led initiatives 
  • Ideally have experience working with government or nutrition bodies, such as the British Nutrition Foundation, and contributing to or influencing nutrition policies and health strategies
