Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our team at Eric Williams House on night shifts.

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting management with the overall administration of the home. You will oversee and work alongside a team of staff, ensuring that resources are effectively deployed to provide exceptional, person-centred care that meets the individual needs of our residents.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supervising and leading a team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
  • Ensuring the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being of residents, including the administration of medication.
  • Promoting a safe and supportive environment, adhering to Health & Safety guidelines for service users, staff, and visitors.
  • Upholding safeguarding practices to protect vulnerable adults.
  • Supporting staff to uphold and exceed expected standards of care and professional behaviour.

Work Schedule: You will be required to work various night shifts (9:45 PM – 7:30 AM), including weekends and bank holidays, on a rota basis (21 hours per week).

Please note, the salary advertised is a full-time salary based on a 37-hour working week so will pro-rata accordingly for this role. 

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a police records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead night shifts and ensure the well-being, security, and safety of service users, staff, and premises.
  • Supervise a small team of Night Support Assistants, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Provide personalised care and support to service users, including those living with dementia, according to their needs and service plans.
  • Promote the independence of service users and facilitate activities that enhance their quality of life.
  • Uphold service users’ rights, maximise their choices, and actively involve them in decision-making.
  • Ensure high-quality practice and respond to complaints/comments following departmental policies.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations, including conducting Risk Assessments.
  • Collaborate with housing providers and health services to improve service users’ health and quality of life.
  • Support and work with carers, relatives, and friends of service users, ensuring community involvement in service provision.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and development activities.
  • Assist GPs, professionals, and relatives visiting service users.
  • Perform cleaning and laundry duties as directed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Commitment to completing the Care Certificate, as it is a minimum standard for this role.
  • Ability to work more than 21 hours per week.
  • Strong understanding of Coventry City Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Experience in providing care and support to individuals with diverse needs.
