We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our fantastic team at our Sonning Quarry site in Reading. The site is easily accessible from towns such as Reading, Henley, Marlow, Basingstoke, Wokingham, Oxford, Newbury, Bracknell, High Wycombe, Camberley, and surrounding areas.

Reporting directly to Site Manager. The Multi Skilled Operative will work on the day-to-day basis on the Recovery Operations Weighbridge when operational. For any reason the Recovery Operations is not Operational they would be expected to do other site duties, and work with the team to the site plan, whilst working to keep the Health and Safety and Housekeeping around site to a high standard.
Your responsibilities in this role will include (not exhaustive):
- Operating the Recovery Operations Weighbridge.
- Ensure materials being brought into site meet the required criteria for the Recovery Permit.
- Working with other members of the team to ensure good communication with the customers.
- Operating the Quarry Weighbridge when required.
- Follow SHE policies and procedures.
- Ensure Site always conforms with safety requirements.
- Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
- Inspections of the Weighbridge/Plant and acting on defects and implement remedial action.
- Plant Maintenance as required.
- Ensure that plant availability is maximised when working in the quarry
- Operation of the Loading Shovel for the loading of lorries and feeding the processing plant (when working in the Quarry)
- Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard.
Flexibility and adaptability are key to this role to meet with the sites production requirements.
To succeed in the role of a Multi Skilled Operative the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:
- Proven experience driving and operating mobile plant – ADT (Articulated Dump Truck), Loading Shovel, Telehandler, etc.
- Knowledge of Landfill Operations
- Knowledge of Aggregate Operations
- Good Timekeeping – flexible as to the sites operating requirements
- Good Communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
- Full UK manual car Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
Previous experience working in a Landfill/ Plant / Quarry / Heavy Manufacturing environment would prove highly beneficial; but this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.
