MEH Manager – Bridgwater, UK

About the Role

MEH Manager

Full-Time, Permanent. Contractual Location: Hinkley Point C – Minimum 3-4 days a week in office.

Step into a pivotal role at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious energy projects. As MEH Manager within EDF’s Joint Design Office, you’ll be driving innovation and efficiency across a major nuclear build, helping shape the future of low-carbon energy. This is your chance to lead a high-performing engineering team on a project that’s not only technically complex but nationally significant.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As MEH Manager, you’ll be instrumental in leading a multi-disciplinary team that responds to site queries and design changes across the MEH Joint Venture and NSSS Auxiliaries contracts. You’ll oversee the operational management of discipline leads and engineers from both the Responsible Designer and NNB, ensuring technical responses are timely, accurate, and compliant.

You’ll also play a key role in resource planning and performance monitoring, aligning team output with the ramp-up in delivery over the next year. Collaboration is central to this role—you’ll foster a “one team” culture between JDO and contractor engineers, ensuring seamless integration and shared success.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

In addition to a competitive salary of £65,000, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone’s working needs are different. What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll lead and develop a team of MEH Leads and engineers, building capability and aligning their work with project goals. From recruitment to ongoing development, you’ll ensure your team is equipped to deliver high-quality technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Safety and compliance will be at the core of your leadership, enforcing EDF’s Zero Harm policy and ensuring all operations meet CDM regulations and delegated authority limits. You’ll also act as deputy to the Branch Manager, planning and delegating tasks to meet both technical and schedule targets.

Your role will span technical coordination, stakeholder engagement, and strategic reporting. You’ll resolve complex issues, manage risks, and support integration between Civil and MEH programmes—all while driving process improvements and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Who You Are

You bring a strong foundation in design or construction, backed by a degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Your leadership experience in the nuclear or other safety-critical industries has equipped you to manage diverse teams and deliver results under pressure.

You’re a natural collaborator, skilled at building cross-functional relationships and navigating multicultural environments. Your technical knowledge is extensive, and you’re confident working independently and proactively to solve problems and drive progress.

You understand design processes, contract management (especially NEC), and the importance of confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Above all, you’re passionate about contributing to a project that’s shaping the UK’s energy future.
