We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter looking to join our fantastic team here at our Tunstead Quarry site, close to Buxton in Derbyshire. The role is easily commutable from Buxton, Macclesfield, Stockport, Dronfield, Manchester, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Leek, Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, you as the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will be a key colleague with the main function of this role will be to complete a weekly maintenance schedule set by the Methods team to ensure plant reliability is maintained, you will also be responsible for working in reactive maintenance situations to ensure safe and timely repairs are completed in this 24/7 operation in Stone.
Responsibilities of the role, (not exhaustive):
- Carry out fixed plant maintenance as per work orders delivered by Maintenance Supervisor
- Carry out PM services and ensure all the right details are returned via the CMMS system to cover any further work required
- Contribute to the continuing development of the fixed plant reliability by putting forward plant improvement ideas
- Completing first level inspections to ensure any potential plant failures are identified as early as possible
- Carry out reactive maintenance to ensure the 24/7 plant operations can be returned in a safe and timely fashion
- Support any RCA investigations where possible
- Strong communication skills required to ensure all the correct information is given back on work orders and in any meetings
- Support the Zero Harm policy
The fundamental in the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter is to be able to provide flexibility, knowledge and determination to drive the plant forward in its production.
To be successful in this role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter, you as the ideal candidate you will also be able to demonstrate proven experience working within a mining, quarrying, Stone Processing, heavy industrial industry, or a similar environment with a strong engineering background.
Specific Requirements:
- Time served mechanical apprenticeship or qualified by experience
- NEBOSH and/or IOSH Working Safely (Desirable)
- Full UK manual car driving licence
- Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental standards within a heavy engineering environment
- IT Literate (Desirable)
- Strong problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
