We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead QA Engineer to join our development team working with teams across Leeds, Bulgaria and remotely.  Using agile methodologies, you’ll be the lead of a Testing team working alongside developers to ensure we deliver to the highest quality standards.  Utilising test cases, testing documentation and automated testing you will ensure the best possible quality for product releases for our core Compliance and HR software that is used by customers throughout the UK.The role requires close liaison and consultation with software developers, product owners and developer managers and your test team.
Continuous Integration is key to our software delivery strategy, and you will be using existing skills to build smoke and regression testing suites to ensure we cover the applications with automated tests and embed these into our existing and new CI / CD pipelines.

You will ensure that the software delivered is of the highest quality, leading by example and promoting the use of continuous and automated testing.  You will share your knowledge and experience across the testing team.
You will need to be highly motivated, have strong communication and problem-solving skills.  A team player that can rise to the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment and prepared to learn and apply new technical skills.

UI and API Automation is a key part of our ongoing improvements to our testing process and as such will call on your experience in these areas, as we continue to improve our test coverage and implement best practices.

Competencies :

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Good knowledge of job queue management tools and working knowledge of SQL.
  • A methodical and logical approach to testing coupled with good diagnostic skills.
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Azure or other bug management software.
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of full software development life cycle from initial scoping and specifications through to testing, release, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Experience in regression testing, usability testing, stress testing, acceptance testing 
  • Strong knowledge of automation testing using a JavaScript UI/APi Automation framework.
  • Working knowledge of BDD techniques using Cucumber, SpecFlow, Cypress or equivalent
  • Good understanding of DevOps practices
  • Drive for continuous improvement and efficiency
  • Triage, Analysis and Prioritisation of the support backlog ensuring that KPI targets are met
  • Good people management and delegation of work.
  • Team mentoring and coaching

Responsibilities :

  • Working and liaising with stakeholders, project managers and developers within an agile development process.
  • Collaborate with the team in agile ceremonies to understand requirements (inceptions, sprint planning, stand ups & retrospectives.)
  • Identifying, escalating and improving QA practices across products on a regular basis accounting to changing product requirements.
  • Set out test strategies and maintain proper testing documentation. E.g using testrail.
  • Accurately recording the output of testing, logging defects with sufficient clarity and managing them throughout the defect life cycle.
  • Designing test cases and following testing standards.
  • Creating, maintaining, and performing automation test scripts.
  • Ability to apply configurations and create test data sets.
  • Maintain and improve quality of the applications delivered by the team
  • Expand coverage of test automation across the suite
  • Work with other QA team members across the group via Community of Practice
  • Manage own workload to achieve deadlines
  • Assisting support team with queries
  • Growing talent by coaching and mentoring the team.
  • Performance management of team members
