Kitchen Assistant – Cafe – Greater London
The Jamie Oliver Cookery School is all about unleashing your inner chef. Whether you’re visiting one of our two London schools or joining us online, you’ll experience new and exciting cuisines, learn expert techniques and leave with some fantastic memories.
Alongside our cookery school our Cafe offers baked treats from Hoxton Bakehouse and Dusty Knuckle, coffee from NewGround, plus housemade focaccia sandwiches, vibrant salads and soups. Not to mention a host of delicious snacks and drinks. This is proper food on the move. That means all you have to do is turn up, settle in and rest assured that you’re in good hands.
We are now recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join our Cafe team.
WHAT YOU’RE HERE TO DO
As Kitchen Assistant, there are five key pillars of your role:
- Excellent Kitchen Management: You will be responsible for keeping the kitchen in optimal working order ensuring all deliveries are put away promptly and in an organised manner, following the FIFO (First In, First Out) method. Handle all food items with care to maintain quality and safety.
- Excellent Food Preparation: An important part of your role will be supporting chefs with their food preparation. While the food preparation itself is rarely complex, precision and consistency are essential. Following the Chef’s instructions carefully and maintaining high standards will ensure quality and efficiency in the kitchen.
- Excellent Operation: You are here to make operations smoother, and provide support across the Cafe.
- Food Safety, Hygiene & Health and Safety: You will have a high level of respect and care for the businesses, and your own hygiene and presentation.
- Embody Team Culture: At Jamie Oliver Cafe, We want to inspire people to cook more, and immerse people into world class food experiences. To achieve this, we have a strong team working culture, that everyone plays a part in.
WHAT A CAFE KITCHEN ASSISTANT NEEDS TO KNOW
- Each shift will carry a wide range of demands and responsibilities that will require sound multitasking.
- Organisation is critical to every shift, and to your role in general.
- Equally important are maintaining a calm and composed demeanour while working with a clear sense of urgency.
- These qualities are required to perform your role excellently.
