JOB PURPOSE

The Jewellery, Engineer & Costing will be responsible for ensuring the engineering of Fine Jewellery, working closely with the Design and Product Development team to implement suitable and appropriate production solutions based on an in-depth knowledge of the Jewellery manufacturing process. 

The person will be responsible for ensuring functional requirements, quality and compliance standards are met. At the same time, the role will ensure that Jewellery is sourced at a competitive price and delivered on time, taking into account the capacity, capabilities, technologies and feasibility of suppliers. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide technical support to Design and Product Development teams by integrating manufacturing constraint form the design stage to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • To work with suppliers to translate design brief into industrial solutions 
  • To visit suppliers and factories to monitor the progress of new projects/products, verify their performance and establish close working relationships to achieve the best outcome in terms of efficiency/quality/cost
  • To provide timely feedback to the Product Development team following suppliers visit and, where appropriate, proactively suggest solutions in line with aesthetic and qualitative aspects required
  • To monitor the industrialisation process with our partners, form prototype to samples validation, ensuring the quality/time/cost standards are met
  • To carry out engineering activities base don risk assessment, development and testing requirements
  • To support and resolve Jewellery quality issues by redefining production standards or quality check to be carried out
  • Product quality control definition and masterpieces' approval
  • To work to ensure Jewellery products are sourced at a competitive price, using technical expertise and knowledge of the production process to ensure target costs are met
  • To manage and ensure up-to-date reporting of technical product information 
  • To ensure regulatory product compliance by keeping abreast of government regulations, restrictions, safety protocols and performance standards relating to fine Jewellery
  • To conduct research into materials, production techniques and market trends to propose innovative and competitive solutions 
  • To define industrialisation parameters, taking into account the quality/time/cost balance 

 

 

 

 

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Degree in Material Technologies or Engineering is a strong plus
  • Fluent knowledge of English for effective communications with Design and PD colleagues
  • Experience in similar Costume Jewellery or Fine Jewellery for luxury industry
  • Expertise in Fine Jewellery costing, able to drill down to the cost of a single manufacturing phase
  • Expertise in technical engineering of Fine Jewellery
  • Deep knowledge on Costume Jewellery or Fine Jewellery design and construction
  • Expert knowledge of galvanic processes, galvanic PVD and other processes 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Deep knowledge of Jewellery suppliers' capabilities
  • Previous experience in Product Development is a plus
