About the Role
Leeds City College are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Hospitality Team Member to join our Travel, Food and Drink department. As part of our dynamic team, you will support the delivery of high-quality catering lessons and help create a positive, professional and inspiring learning environment for our students. Working closely with our chef tutors and hospitality staff, you will play a key role in ensuring lessons run smoothly, resources are well-organised, and students gain real-world experience in a supportive and engaging setting. A passion for hospitality, teamwork, and excellent customer service is essential, along with a genuine commitment to helping students succeed and enjoy their learning.
This is a variable hours, fixed term contract (6 months) role. You will be expected to work up to 37 hours per week to cover for staff absence. Please note that the hours may be reduced or withdrawn entirely should the staff member return to work during the contract period.
What You Will Do
- Support staff by setting up class trolleys, teaching materials, and supporting the student shop.
- Identify food products that need to be utilized to minimize waste, suggesting how these items can be used in classes or to produce goods for the student shop.
- Give technical and product assistance to learners and staff.
- Ensure all cleaning duties are completed to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within all kitchens, equipment and storage areas are cleaned and well maintained, and undertake planned deep clean activities as required.
- Ensure equipment and resources are maintained following safe working practices and manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Demonstration of safe working practice and procedures within curriculum area including wearing of correct PPE.
- Maintain records for chilled, ambient, and frozen goods within legal limits for safe delivery and that all required documents are completed for due diligence purposes.
- Support the Deputy Head of the department to ensure food cost targets are adhered to, using electronic and manual monitoring systems.
About You
- Level 2 Maths & English or willingness to achieve.
- Experience of working within an educational catering environment.
- Experience in dealing with external customers and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Experience of providing effective hygiene support, monitoring food safety and due diligence systems.
- Experience of collating and processing orders and deliveries.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to relate to all levels of staff, students, clients and stakeholders.
