Description: We are looking to recruit a Homeless Prevention Officer to work with people in prison or on probation who are at risk of homelessness.
You will receive referrals from the prison and probation service and contact the applicant to assess their circumstances and housing and support needs as well as what duties may be owed in accordance with Part 7 Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
You will work with the applicant and their support network to assist them to maintain their current accommodation or find new accommodation.
You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and apply the legislation and guidance.
You will also be able to manage your own caseload and meet the statutory deadlines.
You may already have experience working with people who are at risk of homelessness or homeless, people in prison or people on probation or other relevant experience which means you would have a good understanding of the challenges faced by this client group.
You will receive training and also be highly motivated to develop your knowledge through independent learning.
You will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. You will need to be able to travel across the city as and when required for meetings but do not need access to a car or a driving licence.

Hours: This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Contract: Fixed Term 18 months
Salary: £37,280 to £41,771 per annum (City Pay Band 5), pro rata for part time.
Location:
You will work at least one day a week at Mandela House and at least one day a week at Warkworth House with the option to work from home or either of those offices on other days depending on work commitments. You must be able to travel independently across the City but access to a car is not necessary. Pool bikes are available to staff from Mandela House.
