About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity that has arisen in the hospitality team at the University of Bath. We are recruiting for a talented Head Chef to lead the back of house in the Hospitality Team looking after the lime tree, Pavilion Café and Sports Café.
These are three busy kitchens operating with a brigade of chef’s, supported by Sous Chef’s, Chef de Parties and Commis Chefs.
These kitchens cater for the day to day requirements of the university community as well as major events and sporting championships hosted by the Sports Training Village (STV).
The lime tree is 500 seater restaurant boasting a pizza kitchen, hot counter, deli counter with freshly made salads and a coffee bar open 7 days a week. The Sports Café is a 60 seater café serving the STV with a range of hot dishes, paninis, cooked breakfast and hot drinks and smoothies, open 7 days a week. The Pavilion Café provides a range of hot meals, toasted ciabattas, hot drinks as well as providing the food for a busy food delivery service within the building.
About you :
- have a passion for preparing, cooking and serving a high standard of nutritious food
- have natural leadership qualities to lead the team and have a positive impact on the growth and development of the team
- be financially astute, reviewing stock and recipes to ensure effective yield is achieved and waste controlled and build efficient rotas for the kitchens to control labour cost
- demonstrate a excellent understanding of food safety, maintain and build up on the food safety culture within the team
- be a strong communicator, both written and verbal
- be culturally aware and actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion with in the team and the department

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis with an expected start date of 1 August 2025.
