Job Title: HE Acting Lecturer (Acting and Movement for Actors)
Salary: Commencing at £31,916 with progression to £35,912 pro rata, per annum

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Acting & Movement Techniques Lecturer to join the team delivering our BA (Hons) Acting degree at University Centre Leeds. 

As part of the Creative Arts team, you will deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across Higher Education acting programmes, drawing on expertise in actor-training methodologies including Stanislavski, Meisner, Chekhov, Laban, Lecoq, Viewpoints, animal studies, and physical theatre. 

The role involves planning inclusive learning experiences, assessing student performance, providing constructive feedback, monitoring progress, and supporting students’ personal and professional development. 

You will also contribute to curriculum development, maintain strong industry links to ensure teaching reflects current professional practice, and prepare students for further study and successful careers in the performing arts.

What You Will Do

  • Monitor student progress, set targets, implement interventions, and motivate learners to achieve their goals and progress confidently.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons and assessment activities, adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs while providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate records.
  • Apply effective assessment strategies, contribute to internal verification and quality assurance processes, and promote high levels of attendance, retention, and achievement.
  • Continuously reflect on and improve teaching practice, maintain up-to-date industry knowledge, and contribute to curriculum development to ensure courses remain relevant and aligned with industry standards.

About You

  • Passionate, student-focused educator and/or experienced acting professional committed to high-quality teaching.
  • Skilled in engaging and motivating diverse learners through varied teaching and assessment methods to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Reflective practitioner dedicated to continuous professional development, enhancing teaching through industry knowledge and connections.
  • Strong communicator with excellent organisational, lesson planning, time management, and student progress monitoring skills.
  • Experienced in teaching actor-training methodologies including Stanislavski, Meisner, Chekhov, Laban Movement Analysis, Lecoq, Viewpoints, and physical theatre.
  • Holds a Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. Cert Ed or PGCE), or is willing to achieve one within two years.
  • Holds a relevant vocational qualification or degree in the subject area.
