An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Band 3 Failsafe Officer to join the Ophthalmology Team at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare, based in the East Surrey Hospital. 

The post holder will support the Ophthalmology team to develop and maintain risk stratification Standard Operating Procedure’s relating to patient pathways and follow up requirements, will provide expertise in the proactive management of Ophthalmology patient pathways from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway is managed smoothly and to provide a degree of cross cover for Medical Retina Coordinators as necessary. 

 

The successful candidate will have experience of working with computerised data systems, be able to work calmly under pressure, have a polite, courteous manner, excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills, with a proven track record of using their initiative and prioritising workload in order to meet deadlines.

–          GCSEs Qualifications including English and Maths / NVQ Level 2/3 Business Admin

–          Highly computer literate; i.e. an extensive working knowledge of MS Office programmes

–          Ability to demonstrate initiative and prioritisation skills

–          Competent use of database and accurate keyboard skills

–          Strong communication skills, both face to face and telephone

–          Professional and helpful approach and attitude

Previous administration experience is not essential, but a positive approach to learning the role is essential.

Successful candidates will be appointed to the first pay step within the band when they start with the Trust (unless they have previous relevant NHS continuous service), thereafter individuals will progress up the pay steps in accordance with NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions. For part time roles you will receive a pro rata’d (proportional) salary payment based on the appropriate pay step/point and hours worked in accordance with AfC and all medical and dental terms and conditions.
