Director of Investor Relations and Treasury

Salary £DOE

12-month FTC

London Hybrid

This is truly a rare opening in Saga plc for 12 months. We are recruiting a Director of Investor Relations (IR) and Treasury to come and join our leadership team, as an interim contract.

In this unique role, you will work with a small dynamic team across both areas. You will fully own the Investor Relations operation and be the key point of contact for all things IR; from creating effective communication materials to maintaining our established relationships across the financial community. From the Treasury perspective, which you will also fully own, you will ensure the financial health of the Group by mitigating risks, protecting assets, and maximising returns.

This is a very attractive opportunity, with significant exposure for those who plan to develop into C-suite leaders. It’s a critical hire for us too, so we need you to be an established and credible leader who has worked in IR/Treasury for a plc organisation. The great thing is most of the required hard work has been done over the past 18 months and we are now looking ahead with exciting growth on the horizon.

You will be reporting directly to our Group CFO and be working alongside our Group CEO and leadership teams across our business units; Travel, Insurance, Money and the Magazine. Here at Saga, we have ambitious plans to deliver long-term sustainable growth and be the most-trusted brand for older people in the UK.

At Saga, we are proud to offer flexibility over where you work. This role will require an ad hoc presence in our London hub, as well as visits to our central hub in Folkestone, Kent.

Role Responsibility

As our Director of IR and Treasury, your accountabilities will include:

  • Working with the leadership team and external advisors to lead the creation of presentations, press releases and other communication materials for our annual results cycle, capital markets events and presentations.
  • Managing the company-compiled consensus, working with equity and industry analysts to ensure that external perceptions of Saga’s performance and direction are closely aligned to our business plans.
  • Having a good working relationship with current and prospective institutional investors, being proactive in aiding them with better understanding the business.
  • Delivering seamless end-to-end Annual Report & Accounts and AGM processes, leading cross-functional teams to deliver results that are within budget and aligned with our corporate messaging.
  • Delivering external events to support the Saga strategy and performance, including results presentations, road shows, capital markets events and investor meetings.
  • Owning the management, update and review of shareholder-facing websites from both a content and technical perspective.
  • Driving the production of comprehensive competitor analysis for senior leadership, including financial metrics and insightful commentary.
  • Facilitating the flow of feedback and the external perception of Saga to the Board and other senior stakeholders across the Group.
  • Being accountable for the Group’s Treasury Policy and operations, including but not limited to cash management and forecasting, derivative trading, reporting and compliance.
  • Managing the Group’s liquidity position and optimising returns.
  • Maintaining regular rolling liquidity forecasts, providing visibility to senior executives and agreeing the optimum path.
  • Managing all aspects of the Group’s credit facilities, including drawdown, compliance and reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Leading one-off projects from a Treasury and IR perspective, ensuring that any credit or liquidity impacts have been considered and that the external communication is appropriate.
  • Owning the risk register, associated controls and reporting for IR and Treasury.
  • Owning and having full accountability for the Group’s relationships with external stakeholders, including retail investors, institutional investors, ratings agencies, research analysts, external advisers, auditors and lenders.

The Ideal Candidate

Joining us as our Interim Director of Investor Relations and Treasury, you will be a qualified accountant with a background in FP&A.

While we prefer candidates with a travel or financial services background, we are open to considering candidates with a proven track record in IR or Treasury from other industries.

Operational skills required include:

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills with the ability to deliver complex information in a clear and concise way.
  • Excellent influencing and relationship building skills, with the ability to quickly establish credibility by winning respect and co-operation.
  • The ability to work under pressure, managing multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • A willingness to question and challenge.
  • Demonstration of integrity, dependability, responsibility and accountability.
