About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and innovative team in a newly created role. The purpose of the Data Analyst and Mapping Officer role is to support data-driven decision-making across the council by collecting, analysing and visualising data with a specific focus on health inequalities.

As part of our team, you will be responsible for:
· Working closely with teams across the council and external partners to ensure the emerging Health Inequalities Strategy is grounded in robust evidence and local intelligence.
· Collating and integrating complex data from multiple sources and converting it into useable business intelligence.
· Identifying patterns, trends and disparities in health outcomes data to make recommendations and generate actionable insights.

Who should apply?
We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual who has proven experience in data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and who will bring positive energy to the role. To be successful, you will also need:
· To be proactive and organised;
· To be an excellent and effective communicator to diverse audiences of varying seniority;
· Experience in dealing with people at a range of levels within an organisation;
· Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and interpret data and effectively develop solutions; and
· A willingness to adapt to different scenarios and build strong relationships with partners, operational teams and services.

Experience with additional data tools or platforms such as R or GIS systems, or working in a public health, local government or community services setting, is desirable but not essential.
