Asda is one of the UK’s best loved and best-known brands, with a head office in the heart of Leeds. We are looking for a User Experience (UX) Researcher to join our Asda eCommerce team.

Reporting into the Asda.com UX & Optimisation Manager, you will lead on planning, implementing and reporting on the optimisation testing programme for asda.com, to help deliver World Class digital experiences. Together with UX specialists across Research and Content Design, Experimentation Design and Development you will form the UX and Optimisation Team, part of Customer Strategy and Activity in the eCommerce function, at Asda. You will work collaboratively with the wider eCommerce team as well as Product and Technology functions, from facilitating ideation through to influencing decisions with data-backed insights to ensure the customer is at the heart of everything we do as we improve and optimise the end-to-end online experience.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive testing strategy and manage this programme to deliver long-term, measurable results
  • Analyse website performance data, onsite behavioural analytics and conversion metrics to identify areas for improvement
  • Design, implement and analyse AB and multivariate experiments to optimise website elements and the end-to-end user experience of asda.com
  • Collaborate with other eComm functions, across Trading, Events and Monetisation to understand trading performance and able to provide guidance of recommendations or levers to test to improve performance
  • Collaborate with UX Research and other Data teams to provide a comprehensive ‘what’ and ‘why’ understanding of testing and research insights
  • Encourage the business to make decisions based on customer insight, data and research evidence
  • Share insights in appropriate formats to aid understanding and knowledge sharing as well as wider stakeholder engagement and education
  • Help to lead and define projects, including troubleshooting, running alignment sessions and benchmarking
  • Seek to improve processes and ways of working – spotting opportunities for collaboration and creating efficiencies for colleagues and customers

“Let’s find out about you”

  • Experience in the field of Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) ideally in a large-scale ecommerce environment where your work is shared to multiple stakeholders
  • Proven track record of managing experimentation activity in a considered way that delivers improved commercial performance and customer insight
  • Proficient in CRO tools, AB Testing platforms and experimentation methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills and a questioning mindset, with the ability to interpret data (from testing and analytics platforms, including onsite behavioural analytics tools) to make data-driven decisions
  • Inquisitive, comfortable failing fast, learning and iterating. Not afraid to try and encourage others to do the same
  • Understanding of UX best practice, UI design and Accessibility is advantageous
  • Pragmatic and flexible, you understand how research operates in a Lean UX and Agile environment to produce timely and relevant insights that have impact
  • A pro-active collaborator, you understand the importance of engaging with others to facilitate ideation, synthesise insights as well as work with other team’s data sources to triangulate and spot trends
  • Confident in project scoping, planning and prioritisation as well as hands-on execution of running of experimentation activities
  • Strong communicator who can bring to life the stories of our customers with data and insights to influence and manage stakeholders
