About the role
Applications are invited for one or more Chapman Fellowships in Statistics within the Statistics Section of the Department of Mathematics, commencing September 2026. These will be fixed term for 3 years. We especially welcome applications from people whose research aligns with the EPSRC Network Stochastic Processes and Time Series Programme (NeST: https://nest-programme.ac.uk), although we welcome applications across the breadth of Statistical Science. These posts provide an excellent opportunity for those seeking to pursue an academic career in Statistics.
What we are looking for
You will produce independent and original research in Statistics within the Department of Mathematics, submit publications to leading refereed journals, and help with teaching and administration. You will be expected to undertake a self-directed program of research and scholarship, play a role in the national and international Statistics community, in addition to teaching students at undergraduate level. You will also take a role in MSc teaching and project supervision.

Positions are available for a fixed duration of 3 years.
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £43,863 – £ £47,223 per annum.
