The successful candidate will be
responsible for managing the day to day running and operation of
the Water Quality laboratories. The appointee will ensure high
standards of quality and compliance across all the Water Quality
Laboratories activities and will be assisting the Technical
Supervisor (Materials) and Deputy School Safety Officer in
ensuring safety standards and compliance are met across the
schools laboratories.
The postholder will be required to
independently plan and organise their own work and the work of
others, and to provide line management, mentoring and
professional development support to colleagues. The level of
responsibility will increase as the postholders knowledge,
training, and professional development progresses. They will also
work as part of a team to co-ordinate technical operations,
ensuring compliance with safety standards and the effective
management of facilities, equipment, resources and technical
expertise to help deliver the schools teaching, and research
aims.
The postholder will work in the School of
Architecture, Building & Civil Engineering within the Sir
Frank Gibb Laboratory, which is one of the largest
built-environment University laboratories in the UK. The
laboratory is used extensively for teaching, research and
enterprise and provides support for a broad range of Civil
Engineering, Built Environment and Architecture activities.
The appointment will be on a part time 0.4
FTE, open-ended contract. Salary will be on Technical &
Teaching Services Grade 6 (£35,116 – £45,413 per annum, pro-rata)
at a starting salary commensurate with experience and
qualifications.
