Job Description
Baxterstorey is seeking a skilled and passionate Barista to join our team in London, United Kingdom. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting exceptional coffee beverages and providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso-based beverages, using high-quality ingredients and proper techniques
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment
- Create visually appealing latte art to enhance the customer experience
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, using the point-of-sale (POS) system
- Handle cash and card transactions with precision and integrity
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing product recommendations and answering queries about coffee offerings
- Stay up-to-date with coffee trends and Baxterstorey’s menu to effectively communicate with customers
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar customer-facing role
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and ability to operate espresso machines
- Demonstrated skill in latte art and presentation of coffee beverages
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Proficiency in cash handling and using POS systems
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Food safety certification is desirable
- Passion for coffee and willingness to continually learn about coffee beans, roasts, and brewing methods
