Automation Operator – Hove, UK
Join our dynamic AI & Automation Centre of Excellence as an Automation Operator, reporting directly to the AI & Automation Operations Manager!
In this key role, you’ll lead the management and optimisation of UiPath operations, ensuring seamless performance and monitoring of automation solutions across EDF. As you grow in the role, you’ll also expand your expertise to support our broader automation ecosystem, including Blue Prism and Power Automate platforms.
You’ll be part of a high-performing Enterprise IT team dedicated to delivering cutting-edge automation solutions across multiple business units. We leverage a diverse and powerful tech stack, including UiPath, Blue Prism, Power Automate, Power Apps, Azure AI, Python, and more empowering EDF to innovate and operate at the forefront of automation technology.
What you’ll be doing
Deployment and Operation of AI and Automation Solutions:
- Assist in moving process automations from development to production through a structured deployment approach to ensure continuity and consistency of required process output.
- Schedule and manage the operation of AI and automation solutions, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Monitor and optimise the performance of AI and automation solutions, handling exceptions and providing advanced technical analysis.
- Provide technical expertise and support to federated automation teams across the business.
- Manage the delivery of work within the automation tools, ensuring efficient utilisation of automation to handle substantial workloads and meet stakeholder expectations.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Handle issues raised from Business Support, IT service desk, or by monitoring, and document issue resolutions to improve performance.
- The standard working hours for this role are 9:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday. However, you will be required to participate in an on-call rota, covering occasional shifts until 7:00pm (approximately 3 days per month), to support business-critical automation operations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving AI and automation processes through data analysis and stakeholder feedback.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement strategies to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
- Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to innovate and improve AI and automation solutions.
- Ensure ethical AI practices and compliance with ethical guidelines.
- Utilise data analysis and reporting skills, leveraging visualisation tools like Power BI and Tableau to generate insights and drive improvements.
Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Assist in managing cloud infrastructure to support AI and automation solutions, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Implement and manage cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
- Optimise cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency and scalability, including virtual machine image maintenance and security protocols.

Specific skills and qualifications include:
- Proven experience in managing automation tools and platforms (e.g., UiPath, Blue Prism, Power Automate).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for informed decision-making and problem-solving.
- Ability to utilise data analysis and reporting skills, leveraging visualisation tools like Power BI and Tableau to generate insights and drive improvements.
- Ability to ensure AI and automation solutions meet SLAs, manage end-to-end service delivery processes, and provide recommendations for strategic or high-value business decisions.
- Skills in managing the delivery of work within the AI & Automation CoE, ensuring efficient utilisation of automation to handle substantial workloads and meet stakeholder expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders, train end-users, and provide ongoing support.
- Strong organisational skills with time management abilities, allowing for effective multitasking and maintaining comprehensive documentation for processes and solutions.
- Addressing operational challenges and collaborating across various disciplines (e.g., DevOps, AI and Automation engineering, data scientists, business units), including working with technical teams to deploy solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, and research new technologies and methodologies.
- Experience implementing best practices and driving continuous improvement initiatives
