Assistant Project Manager – Pontypridd, South Wales

Salary: £30,000 – £32,000

Basis: Full time

Role responsibilities

The Assistant Project Manager will support the Commercial Programmes team in delivering the commercial programmes portfolio including commercially focused transport related projects as well as business change projects to improve transport services, operational efficiency, and driving commercial income in line with Welsh Government (WG) transport policy and strategy. The role may include sole responsibility for delivering one or 2 smaller projects as well as supporting on larger more complex programmes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Deliver a range of transport related projects by applying robust project lifecycle methodologies (such as APM or PRINCE 2), implementing the project plan, schedule of all tasks, key milestones, resource management and support Project Managers to ensure these are completed safely to time, cost and quality.
  • Support in the delivery of the Commercial Property Growth Plan by working with SMEs to deliver opportunities for revenue generation and/or savings across the business, by providing delivery capability to the Client teams.
  • Support in the delivery of the Stations long lease programme and the future operating model programme by delivering support to the programme lead as well as project leads across the key workstreams.
  • Lead on the acceptance of permits for delivery of retail focused schemes on stations by working with safety and project SMEs to ensure effective delivery of Retail enhancement schemes.
  • Develop the commercial offering at our stations by providing guidance on processes, such as landlords consent, tracking progress against service level agreements and escalating issues to the Project Manager to facilitate works on stations.

Who we’re looking for

  • Have or working towards a project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2
  • Previous experience of working within project management.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in support of a robust safety culture.
  • Experience of administering project management documentation including; project action trackers, programmes, project reporting, risk and issue processes.
  • Ability to work within project governance processes.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
