Description: Are you passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives? Do you want a role where every project helps someone live more independently in their home?
We’re looking for a motivated and people-focused Adaptations Officer to join our Asset Management team. You’ll be at the heart of delivering essential adaptations and alterations that support frail, elderly and tenants with disabilities across Cambridge. From installing practical changes to coordinating specialist works, your work will help our residents live safely, with dignity, in homes that truly meet their needs.
What you’ll be doing

Managing the delivery of adaptations in council homes in line with our Adaptations Policy and capital programme.
Working closely with Occupational Therapists, tenants and housing colleagues to make sure the right solutions are delivered at the right time.
Carrying out feasibility surveys, managing contractors, and inspecting works to ensure quality and compliance.
Keeping tenants informed every step of the way, with tact and sensitivity in often challenging personal circumstances.
Managing budgets, invoices and records to make sure the service delivers value for money and remains accountable.

What we’re looking for

A background in building maintenance, construction, or project management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to support tenants with care and empathy while also managing contractors.
Strong organisational skills and confidence in prioritising a varied workload.
Knowledge of housing adaptations, building processes or contract management is desirable – but just as important is your motivation and willingness to learn.
A driving licence and flexibility to travel between sites.
