We’re the UK fire family’s charity, here for every member of our extensive fire service community. We exist to help them all to live healthier and happier throughout their lives and we do that by providing a broad range of health and wellbeing services, online and in person.

Working for us

When working for our Charity, you’ll have access to a number of fantastic benefits. We offer competitive salaries within the voluntary sector and benchmark our salaries externally. Our salaries are reviewed annually.

Basic annual leave entitlement is 25 days plus bank holidays; rising to 27 days plus bank holidays after 5 years’ continuous service (entitlement will be pro-rated for part time employees).

We provide paid leave to accommodate time you may need to be away from work such as compassionate leave and jury service.

We operate a Group Personal Pension Scheme. We will contribute 8% of salary. Employees may request to make personal contributions to their pension through a salary sacrifice agreement.

Other benefits include:

Life assurance – 3 times basic salary, on death, payable to nominated individuals whilst employed by the Charity.

Employee Assistance Programme – a free 24hr confidential helpline which provides signposting, advice and guidance on a range of personal issues. If required telephone or face to face counselling is available.

My Benefits at Work – a portal that provides information and guidance on a range of financial and health and wellbeing matters.

Our employees also have access to the Headspace App which has hundreds of meditation and sleep exercises.

Healthcare – A discounted health cash plan is available whereby employees can pay a monthly premium and then claim cash back for treatments.

Flexible Working – a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid working, are available as appropriate to the role.

Sick Pay – we provide an enhanced sick pay scheme for eligible employees. Entitlement increases with length of service.

Beneficiary Status – as an employee of the Charity you are also a Beneficiary of the Charity, meaning you, your partner and dependent children can access all the services available Including rehabilitation, recuperation and community support. Employees with over 5 years’ service who subsequently leave the Charity retain their lifetime eligibility.
