We are currently looking for a Reliability Technician to join our Engineering team at our Dunbar Cement Plant, located close to Edinburgh and easily accessible from Edinburgh, Berwick-upon-Tweed, North Berwick, Haddington and the surrounding areas.
As a key member of the maintenance team, you will play a vital role in improving equipment reliability and reducing plant failures within a large-scale continuous process manufacturing environment.
Main Responsibilities
As a Reliability Technician, you will support plant reliability through condition-based monitoring and preventative maintenance activities across the cement manufacturing process. The purpose of the role is to monitor, measure and trend equipment condition data to predict failures, allowing maintenance teams to plan and schedule effective interventions
Responsibilities of the role include
· Prioritising health, safety and environmental standards at all times and working in accordance with site safety procedures and isolation requirements.
· Carrying out vibration analysis on running plant, analysing data, recording findings and reporting recommendations.
· Undertaking stopped inspections of machinery, taking measurements and conducting visual inspections to identify developing equipment issues.
· Collecting and managing oil samples from major plant equipment and using analysis data to support maintenance planning and reliability improvements.
· Completing planned plant inspection routes and first and second-level inspections on critical equipment.
· Carrying out lubrication activities on both running and stopped plant equipment.
· Using inspection findings to raise, prioritise and support work orders that help prevent unplanned downtime and equipment failures.
· Working closely with production, maintenance and process specialists to align maintenance priorities with plant risks and operational requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, proactive and passionate about plant reliability and continuous improvement. You should have:
· A mechanical qualification, such as a Modern Apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
· Maintenance or inspection experience within a cement, quarrying, heavy manufacturing or similar continuous process environment.
· Experience of assessing risks and producing risk assessments and method statements for maintenance activities.
· Training or experience in the use of handheld vibration monitoring equipment.
· Knowledge of condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance techniques.
· A strong understanding of equipment safety isolation and safe systems of work.
· Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office and ideally SAP or another CMMS system.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
